On Friday 27.11.2020 Mota-Engil Central Europe signed an agreement with the General Directorate for National Roads and Motorways to design and construction of the S19 road from the Białystok Południe junction (no junction) - Ploski. Almost thirteen kilometers long section of the new road will be built within 3 years. The contract value is 396 981 704.99 PLN.
The task entrusted to Mota-Engil assumes the execution of design works and then the construction of two roads with two lanes in each direction, as well as the reconstruction of roads colliding with the planned expressway and the construction of service and access roads. The section also includes the Zabłudów junction, which will provide a Białystok - Zabłudów - Bielsk Podlaski - Juchnowiec Kościelny relation. The task will also include the construction of 16 engineering structures: 8 road viaducts, 4 bridges, including a 160-meter high bridge over the Narew River. There will also be 4 crossings for animals. The new road will be equipped with road traffic safety, environmental protection and drainage and lighting systems.
The investment will be carried out in the "Design and build" system, and the task will be completed within 36 to 39 months (during the implementation period excluding winter, i.e. from December 16th to March 15th). The construction works were planned for 2022-2024.
The year 2020 ends with the signing of an agreement for the implementation of another section of the key route in the eastern part of Poland. This is already the third section of Via Carpatia, which we are doing together with the section S19 Janów Lubelski and S19 Niedrzwica Duża - Kraśnik. We are also waiting for the Orderer's decision for the submitted bids for the section S19 Lubartów Północ - Lublin Rudnik. So we are strengthening our presence in the east of the country, where we are also currently implementing the S61 Łomża South - Łomża West," says Maciej Michałek, CEO of Mota-Engil Central Europe.
The planned section S19 Bialystok-Ploski is part of the planned international Via Carpatia route, an investment of European importance, connecting the Baltic States with Southern Europe. It is also a very important route for the inhabitants of Bielsko Podlaskie, connecting the city with Białystok.
